LONGVIEW FARM

Longview Farm

Trumansburg, NY

Oversaw the complete renovation of an 1860’s ltalianate farmhouse, the construction of a mixed-use accessory building and the assembly of adjacent land (190 acres). The owners purchased the house due to a passion for vernacular Italianate architecture and a need for a private family retreat. After the renovation of the house the need for additional storage space, laundry facilities, office and separate living quarters became apparent.

The accessory building consists of a four-car garage, office, laundry and two-bedroom apartment. The challenge was how to integrate a 3,000 square foot building on to the site without overpowering the existing farmhouse and how to reorient the vehicular traffic away from the house while maintaining access to the house. I oversaw the re-grading of the house and accessory building site and a new driveway installation, installed the landscaping including stonework, created the design and working drawings for the construction of the accessory building and oversaw the construction.

The first picture shows the house and the accessory building. The second picture is the site work preparing for the foundation of the accessory building, the removal of the existing driveway and the newly constructed walk and perennial flowerbeds. The third picture shows the newly constructed accessory building. Pictures four and five are additional pictures of the accessory building. Picture six is a view from the new driveway and accessory building of the completed flagstone walk and perennial beds.
